What
exactly is the Sons of Confederate Veterans?
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation
of Southern heritage and the truth as it pertains to what the boys
in gray fought, suffered, and died for.
What
exactly do we do?
Our main objective is education. We try to inform the public and
especially our younger generation about the true causes of the War
of Northern Aggression. We try to aid any individuals who seek their Confederate
ancestors. We work to erect new Confederate monuments and to
maintain the ones which already standing. Many more
duties and public services are performed by the SCV; the list goes
on and on.
What
are the requirements for membership? All
prospective new members must be MALE, at least 12 years of age, and
must be able to prove descendancy from a Confederate soldier or
sailor. The ancestor can be a
father, grandparent, or uncle.
Charge to the Sons of
Confederate Veterans:
"To you, Sons of Confederate
Veterans, we submit the vindication for the Cause for which we fought,
to your strength will be given the defense of the Confederate
Soldier's good name, the guardianship of his history, the emulation of
his virtues, the perpetuation of those principles he loved and which made him glorious and which you cherish Remember, it is your
duty to see that the true history of the South is presented to future
generations."
